INVESTING IN OUR COMMUNITIES

Greenbacker is honored to partner with Global Citizenship Experience (GCE) Lab School, a small, independent high school with a real-world experiential learning curriculum grounded in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The courses we’ve developed with Greenbacker have enabled us to train educators across the globe on the principles of inquiry- and project-based instruction, and to introduce hundreds of young people to the promise of creative solutions for the climate crisis. Together, we’re changing education, creating opportunities, and improving our world.

COLLABORATING ON A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

In 2020, we helped establish a professional development program with GCE. Together, we developed a three-part course series, Imagining a Sustainable Future, to help ignite student interest in the sustainability space — one of the fastest-growing job sectors — and jump-start their workforce development.

Since then, GCE has successfully piloted these courses with middle school and high school students across the country (and around the world). The school has also hosted multiple teacher training workshops for educators seeking to expand their knowledge of real-world, project-based learning.

ReFUELING THE FUTURE

ReMOBILIZING THE FUTURE

This Mastery Project explores civics, policies, and changing mindsets about a sustainable future.

EXPANDING OUR IMPACT

GCE and Greenbacker brought the program to the international stage at the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale. Together, we co-hosted a three-part series diving into the content of the three courses. These sessions offered participants the opportunity to engage with industry professionals and provided interested parties with avenues to expand their understanding of sustainable development. To date, this content has been downloaded by thousands of students and educators around the globe.

The three educational sessions from the Biennale, which serve as an excellent preview of the curriculum content, can be found here:

Working with GCE Lab School gives Greenbacker a whole new opportunity to invest in a renewable energy future for our communities. We get to help inspire the next generation of clean energy leaders.
